Musing Mondays (10/10)

This week’s musing asks…

What types of nonfiction do you read?

It's not often that I pick up a nonfiction book with the intent of reading really deeply into it, but much to the amusement of my elementary school teachers and librarians, I have a thing for a couple of nonfiction genres. :P
Mythology:
I have a passion for mythology (although this is not a genre I usually consider nonfiction), whether in a pure or diluted form(such as the Percy Jackson series). There's something of history and the way people lived in these stories and morals. Like the original Brothers Grimm fairytales, mythology can be harsh. This is definitely a huge factor in the way people lived so long ago.
History:
I am incredibly prone to dropping everything I'm doing at any given moment to conduct a huge research project.  This also amazed my teachers and librarians as I went to the school library and checked out several books that hadn't been checked out for 10 to 20 years. The Internet has become one of my better friends in these crazy endeavors: allowing me to find the information I ask for without reading books on the topic. Even today though, I pick up historical accounts on just about any topic semi-often.
And finally,
Books on writing:
Although I try not to bore you guys with tales of being a teen writer, I am one of the many, many teens out there today who long to write. NaNoWriMo coming up in November is an ever constant excitement and topic of dread. :P On Writing by Stephan King is one of my favorite books on writing, although it had little connection to the other books he's written. This is one book on my "must-buy" list.-C
